About Us
The Northern Legends Lacrosse concept was born after a group of parents came together realizing we were experiencing similar frustrations with other traveling club teams. We were spending a significant amount of time and resources. Practice locations were across town at inconvenient times and locations. In addition, we experienced poor organizational management, poor communication, inconsistent coaching staff, inconsistent upward mobility and tryout process. Feeling like our players were just a number in the cog, a lack of team consistency at each tournament, constantly playing the same competitors at different tournaments – just to name a few!
There had to be a better way!
We knew there was enough elite 2028 Minnesota lacrosse player talent to pull together a competitive non-profit 2028 lacrosse tournament team and Coach Gagnon was the one to take the players to the next level. Hence Northern Legends Lacrosse was born in the Fall of 2022.
Our DIFFERENCE
ELITE 2028 MINNESOTA PLAYERS
The Northern Legends Lacrosse team is made up of Minnesota’s finest 2028 elite lacrosse talent – talented players who aspire to play D1-or D2-level lacrosse in college. They enjoy the game and want to continue to improve their skillset both on and off the field. Northern Legends players have great character traits, they want to learn and enjoy being part of a team atmosphere.
AFFORDABILITY
As a non-profit team, costs are significantly below other club teams. In addition, there are multiple voluntary team building opportunities offered throughout the year for players to earn money that will cover their season expenses through their own hard work and participation.
TEAM CONSISTENCY
When you commit to Northern Legends you are expected to attend practices and all tournaments. Team camaraderie and chemistry is built through team consistency.
SMALL TEAM SIZE
If you've played for other traveling teams, you know. There’s practically an entire other team just standing on the sidelines. Our ideal team size is 20-22 rostered players. Every player is a valued member of the team and will get ample playing time and experience at each tournament.
STRATEGIC TOURNAMENT SELECTION
The Northern Legends selection committee is always searching for tournaments that will grow and challenge our players. Sure, it’s nice to win, but we fail our players if that’s our only goal when selecting tournaments. Our goal is to continue to be a nationally ranked top Minnesota 2028 team. To achieve this we will continue to participate in tournaments that allow us to play a variety of teams and talent.
PLAYER DEVELOPMENT & MULTIPLE SCRIMMAGES
We believe players should have the opportunity to be multiple sport athletes, while also being able to play lacrosse at a higher level. This team will have a dynamic practice schedule developed with the intent of maximizing engagement. Emphasis will be on both team and individual skills. Practice will be year-round in the north metro Minneapolis area, primarily in Blaine, MN. Once a month during winter and ramping up in spring for summer tournaments. In addition, offering opportunities to scrimmage 4-6 other local teams throughout the season.
QUALITY, CONSISTENT COACHING STAFF
Coach Gagnon has experience coaching at all levels - youth, high school and elite travel teams. He has won four Minnesota youth lacrosse state championships under his tenure. As a former NCAA lacrosse player, he is a defensive-minded coach that is passionate about lacrosse fundamentals, high repetitions and high-level lacrosse IQ. Justin will also bring in other coaching support throughout the season.
